Welcome to ShinyMind patient trials

ShinyMind – helping you feel better and live well

Thank you for your interest in joining the latest stage of the ShinyMind App patient trials – we aim to help you feel better, whilst you also help thousands of other people right across the country.

What is the ShinyMind app?

ShinyMind is a mental health and wellbeing app for your mobile phone, created with NHS staff and which provides over 100 resources to choose from to help you cope better and live well.

Why should I use it?

ShinyMind is already proven to help improve the lives of people with stress, anxiety, and long-term conditions, equipping them with tools to feel happier, positive and more able to cope.

Why is the trial important?

This trial is an opportunity to be part of something special – a pioneering new approach which could help hundreds of thousands of people who are affected daily by their mental health – and the NHS needs your input to develop new ways to support people.

How do I know it will work?

The app is already used across the NHS by frontline doctors and nurses. It has proven to be an invaluable support to staff experiencing stress and anxiety during the pandemic. In patient trials to date around 90% of users reported improved wellbeing, and 95% would recommend ShinyMind to others.

Is it confidential?

Your data is confidential – ShinyMind is personal and secure, and anything you personalise or input onto the app cannot be seen by anyone else, not even your doctor. We just want you to use the app and tell us what you think.

How big is the time commitment?

Signing-up and downloading the app should take about 15 minutes. After that, the app is easy to use with has a built-in guided tour and instructions. You can use it as much or as little as you like, but we would suggest you try and use it for at 10-15 minutes a day. You can also opt out of the trial at any point.

What if you could also feel better, cope better with your condition, and be happier and more positive? And help thousands of other people?

Thank you – please join our trial

"Using this anywhere is helpful, it has made me feel less alone in dealing with stuff, and when I'm stressed it’s like a ‘go-to’ dealing with it. I have been surprised how much it has helped me."

Patient, Cycle 1 Trial

How to take part

  1. Please complete the patient Consent Form and questionnaire – Click ‘Get started’ below to complete online in 5 minutes and submit to the practice.
  1. Download the ShinyMind App to your mobile phone – once we receive your form we’ll send you an email from hello@shinymind.co.uk with your username and password to download the App from the Appstore if you have an iOS phone, or from Google Playstore if you have an Android phone. Please check your spam/junk folder if you haven’t received the email within 24 hours.
  2. Try the ShinyMind app – please use the app every day if you can – you can learn more about what’s on the app by clicking the link below.
  1. It’s vital you tell us what you think – the trials depend on your important feedback so please tell us how you’re getting on:

After 3 weeks – you’ll receive a short online questionnaire from hello@shinymind.co.uk

After 6 weeks – we’ll send you another two short online questionnaires to complete

For the patient trials to work, potentially helping you and many other patients in the future, these three questionnaires are vital – each will take only 3-4 minutes, but please make sure you are happy to complete them, after which you can then keep the ShinyMind app for at least the next 12 months.
